Every day, across the UK, young people are doing extraordinary things that never make the headlines.
A teenager keeps showing up to school despite everything happening at home, determined to build a different future.
A young carer looks after a parent or sibling before and after class, and still finds time to help others in their community.
A young leader steps up to support classmates who are struggling, simply because no one else has.
A young person overcomes challenges that many adults would struggle to imagine, quietly proving that resilience, courage and determination can flourish even in the toughest circumstances.
These young people rarely receive awards. They rarely make the news. Yet they are the ones shaping their own futures, lifting up the people around them, and changing what's possible in their communities.
The Power of Potential Gala was created to put them centre stage.
Every Young Person Has Potential
At the Steve Browne Foundation, we believe something simple but powerful:
Potential lives in every postcode.
Talent is not limited by where a young person grows up, the school they attend or the challenges they face. Every young person has gifts, strengths and possibilities waiting to be discovered.
What isn't equal is opportunity. Too many young people never receive the encouragement, recognition or platform they deserve. Too many extraordinary stories stay hidden, simply because no one stopped to tell them.
We believe it's time to shine a light on those young people, and on the supporters standing beside them.
Recognition Changes Young Lives
Recognition is about far more than receiving a trophy.
For a young person, being seen and celebrated can open doors. It can build confidence. It can unlock opportunities, mentors, work experience, university places and futures that might otherwise have felt out of reach.
When we celebrate young people who are making a difference, we send a powerful message to every young person watching:
Your story matters. Your contribution matters. Your potential matters.
A Legacy Worth Continuing
The Power of Potential Gala is inspired by the legacy of Steve Browne and the values that continue to shape the Foundation today.
Steve believed that every young person deserves someone who believes in them, and, just as importantly, opportunities that match their ambition. He understood that young people don't need to be rescued; they need to be backed, trusted and given the space to thrive.
That philosophy continues to guide everything we do. Through our programmes, partnerships and community initiatives, we work every day to create environments where young people aged 11 to 18 can grow into the leaders, creators and changemakers they are already becoming. The Gala is an extension of that mission.
More Than an Awards Ceremony
The Power of Potential Gala is not simply another awards evening. It is a celebration of young people, their resilience, their leadership, their creativity, their courage and their hope.
It brings together young people alongside the families, educators, charities, businesses and community leaders who back them. All of us share one belief: that investing in young people creates stronger communities and brighter futures.
Together, we celebrate young people creating lasting impact while raising vital funds to open the same opportunities to the next generation.
Why It Matters Now
Young people across the UK are growing up through some of the most challenging years in a generation. And yet, across every community, they continue to rise.
They continue to overcome barriers. They continue to lead. They continue to create. They continue to show up for each other, for their families and for their communities, often without ever being asked.
These are the stories that deserve to be told, not because recognition is the end goal, but because recognition creates momentum. It inspires other young people to believe their potential is real, and it reminds the rest of us what is possible when young people are given a platform.
This Is Just the Beginning
We hope the Power of Potential Gala becomes more than an annual event. We want it to become a movement that puts young people at the heart of the conversation about the future of our communities.
A movement that encourages young people to believe in themselves. A movement that invites businesses, schools and supporters to invest in the next generation. A movement that ensures the brilliance of young people is no longer the best-kept secret in their community.
Every nomination tells a young person's story. Every sponsor creates an opportunity for a young person. Every supporter helps unlock someone's future.
Because every young person has potential. And every story deserves to be seen.
Join the Movement
Whether you're nominating an extraordinary young person, sponsoring a young person's seat at the Gala, partnering with us or attending on the night, you're helping to build something bigger than one evening.
You're helping to create a future where young people are recognised, celebrated and invested in.
Because when we believe in young people, extraordinary things become possible.
